Russia Being Declared a State Sponsor of Terrorism… Means Nothing…
When I heard that the European Parliament voted to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, I was definitely surprised, and very pleasantly so, not just because I didn’t expect such a decisive stance to be formally adopted, but also because it seemed to come pretty much out of nowhere, considering how hard it seems to be to agree on what seem to be lesser decisions regarding Russia. But then I saw what this vote actually means, which is pretty much nothing… Which is far less surprising, or in fact hardly at all, when it comes to the decisions of the European Parliament…
Such a decision should have a huge impact, clearly establishing the fact that the Russian regime is not just no longer even a potential partner, but not even an opponent to be negotiated with, but instead an enemy to be defeated. However, in truth it’s little more than a curiosity, and probably providing some amusement for the Russian regime. Of course, that may well be the only reason why it was adopted or even voted on, but it once again points out some of the deep flaws that need to be fixed… If only people, from the top decision makers to the masses, would use these overlapping crises as the opportunity they are to do so instead of as an excuse to make things even worse…
