Quick Review: The Dramaturges of Yan

Interesting book, but not much more than that. Too short to be deep…

Quick Review: Stand on Zanzibar

Really good, though those random and incomplete bits and pieces thrown in sometimes put me off a bit. Sure, they complete the picture, but finish the sentences!
All excerpts from Chad’s books, and several other things, were great food for thought, but the eugenics legislation described in this book is only the very first step of what needs to be done… yesterday; stops far too short.

Quick Review: The Book of the Short Sun

I’m quite sure this is the first ten I give a book in more than two years, but it’s completely deserved. Pity I was quite rushed to finish it
Don’t ask exactly why I think it’s so good. It’s nothing specific and everything combined, that’s all I’ll say.

Quick Review: Servant of the Bones

This book is by far one of her best. A bit too… stationary in the moments when you remember everything is told by Azriel to Jonathan and too… Christian-minded for my taste, but otherwise just great. And a lot of food for thought…
“The purpose of life is to learn and to love.”

Quick Review: Exit to Eden

I had to struggle to read through the first half of the book. May be well written and I’m sure people into BDSM would love it, but such things put me off.
The second half is completely different and I found myself lost in it. Not actually lost in the story, but in some of the ideas behind it, when they were outlined… And in my own story, when it was just about the two of them…
So there I was, ten pages from the end, wondering whether it’s worth an eight for just half a book, when she ruins it… MARRIAGE!? WHAT THE FUCK!?
Ok, she did point out the real reason for marriage, when it’s not done for money or other such interests: A voluntary confinement because the two know their commitment is not strong enough to keep the relationship going in the long run. Also, there’s a hint about trying to mix their relationship and The Club in the future, but that’s not covered in the book, so for all I know the author doesn’t think it possible.
So say things are wrong, but do them anyway. No thank you; goodbye.
