Just a Dream
Been quite a while since I had a dream this vivid, long and fragmented, since I kept waking up… Or at least since I remembered one, as I can’t know how many I forgot before waking up. It was about so many things that it’s really about none of them…
I could look for meanings and make connections, or even comment about things that might have been dream reactions to what I was actually feeling at that specific moment, but I’d rather just tell about the dream, it’s interesting enough in itself…
I was in some sort of school and apparently part of a drama team. (Ew! Me and drama???) We had a typical good vs. evil play that we entered in a contest with. Apparently it was what we usually entered with. The thing was that we secretly used magic in acting for the two “deity” characters, so the things that the viewers and jury thought were incredible on-stage effects were actually very real.
The bad deity was invisible throughout the play, with the person playing it actually making themselves invisible instead of not being there and having the good deity battle thin air and special effects as people thought. And the good deity could see through the invisibility, to know where the other is. Also, both of them could basically fly, though what was used on stage was more like floating, so it wouldn’t be too suspicious. That meant nobody saw the strings because there were none to see, but they just thought they were really well hidden.
As a side note, I was playing the good deity of course.
Anyway, at first I saw some images of me practicing the final combat scene against the bad deity, which was played by a girl. Most choreographed combat scenes are more like dancing than fighting, and this was no different. We were floating around, caught in what looked to be a moderately violent dance, and I clearly remember wondering why am I dancing.
Then the dream went quickly through the contest and us winning. I’m not even sure that was part of the dream, actually. It’s possible that the dream only included the knowledge that the contest was over and that we won, without any images from it. What it certainly included, however, was a brief moment where I was talking with some girl backstage. She was nobody I know or used to know, just a dream character.
Next thing I know, I find myself just starting to practice again. I remember being puzzled for a moment, then realize it must be the next school year already and that I must be starting to practice for the next contest. Same play of course, but my “partner” was changed since she had already graduated. Bad deity had to be played by a girl.
I look to my right as I walk to the practice room, which was this huge hall, incredibly tall, with columns, painted windows, fancy wall sculptures and all, and sense somebody there. Nobody else sensed any presence, so they were all wondering who the new bad deity was going to be. I find myself thinking that the invisible person next to me might somehow be my old “partner”, coming back for the start of the practice to give pointers or something. I wondered at how much she had improved her abilities, since she had barely managed to stay invisible for the entire duration of the fights in the play at the time of the contest, yet now all I could do was sense her and nobody else could do even that. But I remembered that there are multiple levels of invisibility, and only the most basic could be penetrated by such a generic detection ability as the one I was using at that moment. So I try to tune my detection abilities to her specifically, in order to see her in case she had achieved the next level, but still see nothing.
At that moment I heard a whispered “Guess who?” from right next to me, felt a breath on my neck and had a demonic image projected into my mind. Somehow, that made me realize it’s the girl I talked to before, backstage, after the contest, so I tune my detection abilities to her specifically and, of course, see her grinning at me.
Here comes the best part… Got such an adrenaline rush dreaming this… Actually, I’m getting it again by just remembering it now.
We walk into the hall, hold hands and separate from the rest, going off to chat for a bit and me being very pleased that I’ll get to work with somebody with such outstanding abilities as I felt she had. At that moment, the others realized somebody was there and wondered who could be so good from the start, considering how difficult it was for the one who played that part in the previous year even after all the training. But we ignore them and I ask if we’re going to practice what we’re actually going to play or not. She says “Hell no!”, I grin evilly, she grins back and we both say “Let’s give them something to remember!”, both excited at the prospect of seeing exactly what the other could do.
She turns visible for a moment, so all eyes would be upon us, and then we shoot straight up towards the ceiling, grappling, then turn around and fly back down along a wall. As we approach the ground, with a mental “Sorry!”, we leech all available energy from everyone else in the room, including the trainer, since this “show of strength” would have otherwise drained us within seconds. They hardly noticed the drain, as all had already fallen down, staring at us and with mouths wide open in disbelief.
After a moment to adjust to all that power flowing into us, she yells “Come on, is this all you’ve got?”, I reply “Oh really? Fine then!” and really go for her. She shoots along the wall, blasts a statue to pieces in her path and I instantly put it back together after I pass through the gap myself.
Then we meant to test our limits and speed up our actions as much as possible. We shoot up again and start projecting images into the minds of the others, since we were so fast ordinary people were only seeing a blur, if even that. The whole thing lasted under a minute, I’ll say. We were too fast even for us to react, so we somehow joined minds, to react as soon as the other thinks the next move, because otherwise we’d risk not only to kill ourselves but everyone below as well, for example if she destroyed a column that I couldn’t rematerialize instantly.
But when we joined minds, she also took the opportunity to teach me the invisibility trick, and I taught her how to see through it and how to shield. Also out of this mental link, we both somehow ended up knowing something neither knew before: How to briefly dematerialize. So we put it all to good use starting the very next second, speeding through the air, both of us invisible, apparently fighting for our dear lives, striking each other with a force that made the whole hall shudder. Yet we were both shielded, so every hit was shield against shield, nothing even got to us. Nobody else knew that, of course, but they weren’t even aware of the hits yet since they couldn’t see us, they just felt the shaking and saw the destruction. She was enjoying cutting apart the columns and I was placing a brief shield against the remaining top part of the column, so it wouldn’t collapse instantly, then flew through the gap myself and rematerialized what she had blown away.
Then we started feeling drained, despite also gathering all available energy from everyone else, but we kept going, grappling and striking in flight. Using all the energy we had left for the fight, we started flickering, now invisible, now ghostly, now fully visible, then invisible again and so on. Since everything lasted mere seconds, the flickers were initially only tiny fractions of a second long, but a few seconds later we started being ghostly, or even visible, for longer, and we also slowed down. That meant that for the final few seconds the others had the chance to actually make out what was going on, which was good for them as we no longer had the strength to project it straight into their minds. Still, nobody realized that we were actually dematerializing when one of us struck at the other and ended up shattering a wall, column, statue or window behind them. Nobody knew that was possible, so they assumed the other became invisible and dodged every time.
A few more seconds later, we were nearly completely drained but still wanted a dramatic exit. For that purpose, we dropped all pretense of invisibility, since we had been mostly visible for the last few seconds anyway, grabbed each other hard, shot straight up to the ceiling and then let ourselves fall freely. When we were only a couple of feet above the ground, we created a flash of light around us, became invisible again and gently floated out of the hall and into a storage room without anyone knowing.
Saying again, this whole thing lasted probably under a minute… And even stranger was that I was somehow watching it both through my own eyes and from somewhere else, like I was a third person floating about only to watch the fight, at the same time. Don’t ask me to explain how that was, no idea, just that I knew everything each of us did while at the same time being fully aware of the vague blur and momentary destruction that was all the others could make out.
After reaching the storage room, now once again invisible and catching our breath, we peeked into the hall from there. We saw the initial confusion, then the trainer saying he feels no distress so we’re ok, wherever we are. He then started shouting all the “pretty” things he’ll do to us once he catches us, for doing what we did. But he quickly appeared to calm down, gathered everyone up and started practicing with them as planned.
So we got back into the storage room and started gently floating around and lightly fighting, or, again, more like dancing than fighting. We were also hurling insults at each other. This was a part of the play, but the insults we used weren’t those from the script, we were making them up on the go. What also wasn’t part of the play was that we were both invisible while doing this, not just her. Back to the insults, we both had really harsh things in mind to say, but we never did. We’d start the harsh phrase and then switch in mid-sentence to say something that barely stung, or even something that was simply funny. We even told each other we didn’t want to hurt each other by saying what we had to say.
Anyway, we hadn’t regained much strength while watching the others in the hall, so, even though this was hardly draining, soon enough we started flickering again and our detection abilities were also becoming unreliable. One moment I was seeing her normally, the other she was ghostly, then I couldn’t detect her at all and so on, and I assume it was the same for her. At some point during this confusing time, we kissed, but went right past that moment and continued the mock fight for a while longer.
A few moments later we gave up, sat down for a few seconds to be able to become steadily invisibile again, did so and peeked out into the hall again. We saw that this year they were trying to get even some of the other actors to float for a bit during the play. While most were just hopping about and looking up, hoping they’ll stay off the ground after one of the jumps, two had actually risen about a foot and were unsteadily floating around.
It was rather amusing to see them look like they were standing on very narrow platforms, afraid not to fall off, and that sometimes they forgot that they only needed to will themselves in the direction they meant to go and attempted to walk on air, once again very careful about where they were going to place their feet, as if there were only certain portions of air that could hold them up. So me and the girl curled up together and just sat there watching them and cuddling, remembering how we did the same when we started learning to fly a few years ago.
Skip forward to the following night, when I was sleeping in the room I had at the school and hear a knock on the window. Bright moon outside, so I see Emi (my younger cousin from the creature’s side) there. Think that’s weird, but I open the window and ask her what’s up.
She looked a couple of years younger than me and said she wants to play the bad deity after my current partner will graduate, this being the part where being younger came in, and would like me to help her practice. In reality I think she’s a few days younger, but might be a few days older, I’m not sure, haven’t heard anything about her in years and haven’t seen her in even more.
I fly out the window and hover next to her, asking her to become invisible. She does for a moment, but then keeps flickering, one moment invisible, the other ghostly, but was never fully visible again so it was a good start. I then take her through the obstacle course that was set up in the school yard and ask her to float to avoid the obstacles, which I recalled as being the basic starting training.
She was hovering a bit, but not much, and was now ghostly nearly all the time. That got me worried that somebody was going to notice us there at night and asked if she wants to go to the spot where I trained when I was running away at night when I started out. She said yes, so I picked her up, got invisible myself and flew off at blinding speed to that place.
It was an abandoned house pretty much in the middle of nowhere and we went in. But, just as I was settling down and forming the plan to teach her in my mind, we noticed movement. Next thing we know, there are zombies coming in. Brief moment of “What the fuck are zombies doing in this picture?”, then snap into action, trying to bar the door by mental force. That doesn’t work and Emi suddenly gets up and charges the door herself, trying to hold it shut with her body. I scream at her to get back, but it’s too late. Zombies were through and coming in from all sides.
I desperately try to erect a force field in place of the door but I can’t focus enough because of all the zombies coming towards me. By now they were all over her and quickly surrounding me as well. I briefly considered using the combat abilities I now knew I had, after the earlier “show of force”, but remembered that if I had to sustain that from my energy alone I’d be exhausted in about ten seconds. So, not knowing how many are there and what else might lie in wait behind them, I remember that I am playing a deity in that play after all and try to remember if I bumped into any potentially effective prayers while training. Manage to think of one, in a strange language, and utter it.
Some zombies seem affected, but none fall. Thing is that the end of one word and the beginning of another in that prayer made up “pula”, which means “dick” in Romanian. One of the “zombies” picked up on that and said “Oh yah, that’ll work, shouting ‘dick’ at us!”. So that made me realize they’re not really zombies. These things think, so strike their brain! And I do just that, lash out mentally at their brains and they start toppling over one after the other, yet even more come. I try desperately to clear a path to Emi while ignoring the ones at my back who kept hitting and biting me. I was just regenerating the wounded areas and enduring the pain.
Eventually I push through, climb over the pile of now-twice-dead bodies and get those who had piled up over her as well. Then I turn against those behind me to make sure they’re all gone, pick her up and get the fuck out of there.
Next image, next day. I had completely healed and certainly wasn’t about to tell anyone what happened, and since nobody seemed to know it means Emi didn’t either and probably found another explanation for all her injuries, as my healing ability seemed to be limited to myself and therefore I couldn’t help her with those.
I find myself walking into the office of the owner of a TV station from here, along with some of the other actors, and we all end up sitting on his desk. He asks if we’d like to watch a match, I shrug and ask if there’s any on, he says there is and turns on the TV. At that point I look to my right and see the president sitting on the same desk, next to me. But, just as I mean to tell him a thing or two, I feel a mental tug, see my “partner” out of the corner of my eye and turn towards her.
Nobody else knew she was there, of course. She had a pretty sexy outfit on and telepathically, as we had no problems communicating like that anymore, said she learned two new things and asked if I’d like her to show me. I reply that I do, at which point she dematerializes a couple of fingers from one hand, sticks them in my pants and rematerializes only the very tips once there, caressing my cock. I say “Hey, now that could be useful! But what are you going to do about me now?”. She asks if I’d care to run off to the bathroom with her for a bit, so I excuse myself and do so.
We walk into the bathroom, she unzips my pants, starts kneeling in front of me, but then says she doesn’t want me to watch her do that, and that she’ll get the opportunity to show me the second new thing she learned that way too. So, even though I was still seeing through her invisibility, she vanishes completely.
I’m stunned, not having heard of anybody capable of true non-detection before, but then she becomes visible again. She explains to me that she can only do it for a relatively short time and only if she doesn’t use any of her other abilities at the same time, but that she will use it now because she doesn’t want to be seen while she blows me. I say “Come on, if you’re invisible nobody but me could see you anyway. Actually, nobody should see me either.” and become invisible myself. She says she still would rather not be seen doing that, not even by me, thinks she’ll feel weird. I say I at least want to see her start, she nods, kneels down, takes my cock in her mouth and then just vanishes. In spite of my best attempts to see her again, I just can’t, and get the very weird feeling of getting sucked off by nobody.
But all good things come to an end and, before that’s done, I suddenly find myself back in the “real world” with the feeling of “school’s out”. (At least that means I didn’t wake up sticky, hate it when that happens.) It’s Monday and I’m going to the dentist. Yes, I actually have to go to the dentist Monday.
I get in there, sit on the chair and notice that the technician’s not there. Anyway, she puts something in my mouth and I try to take it out and say what I now mean to say to her, that I doubt she’ll be able to finish up then for the same reason that made me unable to use the right side of my mouth lately. So I say it and demonstrate, drawing some blood from the gums there and spitting it out. She sees it, agrees that she won’t be able to work that day and puts a sponge with some liquid in my mouth for a while.
Then she tells me what to do about the gums, though I couldn’t make anything out of what she was saying, looks at the clock, says we could talk for the 30 minutes she had set aside for me anyway and starts telling me how later that week she’ll go do dental work for a group of HIV positive people. I say “Erm, hope you’ll be careful with using those tools on healthy people afterwards. I mean, there’s quite a bit of blood involved!”. She says “Yeah, clean them of course. What more could I do? It’s not like it’s not possible to get one here too, maybe even the one that was just before you.”. That makes me ask exactly how she cleans them, but then suddenly dad comes in with Eugen (Emi’s brother) and grandpa and says they need work done too.
Then things get a bit foggy, with everybody talking about different things. Eventually grandpa seems to be next on the chair and Eugen says he has to go work anyway, so he’ll stop by another day. I plan to leave with him, but, just before I do that, the dentist takes out some lotion or something, tells me to open my mouth and rubs my gums in that area with it. She then unbuttons my pants and rubs it around there as well, asking if I ever got that checked out, meaning the occasionally itchy, red areas that I have there for some eight years and that I was told are not a fungus and to just treat the symptoms when they appear because that’s basically all I can do. So I tell her all I know about that, she says she thought as much and I go out.
Creature and Emi are waiting there when I walk out of the building and they’re talking about taking the car to go to our place. I say “What the fuck? Our place is a hundred meters away! Why move the car when you can just leave it parked here?”. They say there are plenty of things to carry from the car and they’re not going to carry them any more than they have to, so I say I’ll carry them if that’s the case.
I carefully arrange the things so it would seem possible that I’m really carrying everything with my own strength, then use my magic to pump up my strength and get everything in here, while at the same time appearing to struggle for every inch of the way so nobody’ll know I can work magic like that.
Then we’re inside this apartment, but it looks like a mix between both of my grandparents’ places, and that’s quite weird as I’ve only visited dad’s parents a few times when I was little. Anyway, we’re all in the living room, eating and apparently watching tennis.
It was the women’s semi final of a tournament and, oddly, it was best out of 5 sets. Remember that Amelie Mauresmo was one of the players, but I didn’t recognize the other. Said other was leading 2-1 on sets but Mauresmo had a set point in set 4, so I zap to another channel to watch a bit of the match of some Romanian player while doing my best to ignore the annoying conversation everyone else had going on around the table. When I switch back to the first channel a couple of minutes later, I see that Mauresmo had lost, which seemed weird to me, but then shrug it off and look at Emi, who was looking at me.
The last thought I remember from the dream is wondering when will I get the opportunity to talk to Emi about the zombies and her training without anyone else knowing what we’re doing.
As I said, I won’t comment on it, it’s nice enough on it’s own. Especially that combat part in the hall. It would make a darn good scene in any movie, if you ask me. Missed having this kind of dreams…
