While selecting things to save off the failed drive I remembered The Bard’s Tale… Tried playing it when I still had 512 Mb of RAM but it was running too slowly so I gave up, and then when I was left with only 256 Mb it was out of the question, but it got stuck in my mind. I think more games should be that fun!
Yes, I’m one of those who always demands more complexity in games, but every now and then it’s nice to just take a break and play something that’s simply fun, especially if it’s fun because it picks on all the trappings of the other games out there. So why aren’t there a few more like it? Or there are but I just never heard of them?
Either way, I highly recommend it for anybody who simply wants to have some fun while playing a game, and especially for RPG fans since they’ll understand many of the jokes better, knowing what typical RPG aspect the jab is aimed at.
