No FalastinVision 2026
Since Israel still wasn’t banned from Eurovision and I obviously continued my boycott, the plan was to once again replace what used to be my usual post about the ESC with the one about FalastinVision, as I’ve been doing for the past two years. But now I see that there’s no FalastinVision 2026… And, while the decision was apparently made back in December, the announcement only came a few days ago. Admittedly, if there would have been a competition, it should have started long ago, so those who’d have actually looked earlier would have realized that something was going on, but for someone who’s basically looking there as part of boycotting the ESC, this came as a surprise. Not that it’s exactly unexpected, what actually is surprising, and praiseworthy, being the very fact that they could put together something like this for two editions, especially considering the constant attacks that are also described in that announcement.
So this seems to be the end of the road for the project, the chances of it returning at a later time being basically zero and the question being how long the site and the songs will at least remain available. The YouTube channel has already been closed, which is once again hardly surprising, the lyrics of some of the songs being questionable to say the least, and at least a few being far worse than that, however understandable the attitude may be under the circumstances. But at least a few shouldn’t be wiped away, and that goes even more for the event itself.
