Just Another Awful Run, Not Getting to the Main Issue Yet…

There’s a lot more to say, but in order to just have something written by midnight and post it with the time of the file, since I even checked twice from here, not going out of my room to look, and saw that dad was still connected, I’ll stick to today, when I went for another run, after being told yesterday that I could still go out for the time being. Being Sunday and the weather being so nice, the park was obviously going to be full, and my running clothes were in the laundry basket, since I didn’t think I was going to need them for the next two weeks, but that was what I had to work with, so I set the alarm to ring at 2 PM, but after sort of drifting in and out of sleep for a while, because of the noise dad was making, after somebody rang the doorbell to deliver a package he had been sent I checked the time and decided to get up when I saw 1:45 PM. At least he cleared the kitchen to let me get the usual stuff, the yogurt being expired since March 5 since I forgot to use it for something else but still seeming edible, and I counted the raisins in dark chocolate I added in it as the sweet thing. Then I put on the old running pants and a regular t-shirt, with an undershirt underneath, and left at 4:10 PM, when it was sunny, there was little wind and the reported temperature was 16-17°C, supposed to drop by a couple of degrees by the time I’ll finish.
The time was an absolutely terrible 51:09.37, barely six seconds faster than the first one under the state of emergency, when I ran on a new route, on streets and sidewalks, and wearing a FFP1 mask, albeit not quite correctly. Realizing it was pointless, I decided to not try to remember the exact times, just sticking to the seconds, so the sector times I have are 4:29, 5:27, 6:15, 4:51, 5:25, 6:16, 4:45, 5:29, 6:20 and 1:52.08, making for lap times of 16:11, 16:32 and 16:34, which strike me as matching laps four, five and six of the last half marathon run surprisingly well, being one, two and, respectively, again two seconds faster. I was thinking of what I thought was another Sunday run in a crowded park, when I recalled doing that before voting and just managing to stay under 49 minutes, but I was actually confusing a Sunday run done before voting in 2016, when I just ran seven kilometers, with a run through a crowded park on January 1, 2018, when I did indeed manage to stay under 49 minutes. Either way, the initial target now was clearly 50 minutes, and the roadblocks I had to deal with from the beginning made me realize that even that was unlikely. I still maintained some hope after the first sector, but after the second it was clear I had to reassess and aim for 51 minutes. Then, with over 16 minutes on the first lap, that also became questionable, and after sector one of lap two there didn’t seem to be any way for it to happen. I had some hope again after the next sector, seeing that I had been a bit faster than on the first lap despite needing to stop for a few seconds twice, on top of all the other issues, but at the end of the lap it was again clear I won’t make it, and that proved to be the case, that pretty fast final sector, especially under the circumstances, being too little, too late.
The main problem were, of course, all the people. It wasn’t a matter of weaving or going the long way around, but of just finding a way to squeeze through and dealing with all the complete roadblocks as well as I could, going off the path, slowing to wait for an opening or stopping completely for up to a few seconds, this likely happening more than once per sector, or at least definitely more than once per sector on average. There was also a bit of wind in a few places, but overall it was barely noticeable, and definitely a negligible problem compared to the people. And I didn’t feel anything wrong physically, even finding myself able to push harder than expected when I found some openings, and that final sector showed that I still had a fair bit in reserve at the end. Seeing as I got disheartened so early, after sector two of lap two, I didn’t exactly give it everything, so the time isn’t that good of an assessment of my current level under these circumstances, but I find it uncertain to unlikely that I’d have even managed to stay under 50 minutes by pushing myself to the very limit.

After getting back, since the situation hadn’t changed, I took the recyclables and went back out, to get a recharge code for my phone, the number being about to expire in a few days. Did take the risk of quickly checking the store’s hours on dad’s computer, since the fact that he keeps wandering back and forth all over the place and using all sorts of things and leaving everything everywhere makes simply breathing a much higher risk, and since I saw that the one from this mall was open until 9 PM I dropped off the other stuff in the bins at the entrance, then just went through it and to Kaufland, to drop off the stuff I drop off there as well and have a quick look inside, returning to that mall after that. I remembered that the store in question was on the wrong floor, however, so I wandered around for a while, this also meaning that I had a look at some of the small classic cars that are scattered around that mall these days, as part of an exhibition, and also in a bookstore. Since I had taken more money with me, actually considering buying something, to also have more to read over this following period, but decided against it, since there will be more important things to use money for.
After finally checking and seeing the floor that store was, in fact, on, I remembered having seen it quite a number of times, since it used to be right in front of that Carrefour… But forgot that it moved a while ago, so I first went there, then had to search for the new location… And then waited for quite a long time, since there seemed to be a problem with the printer, so it took the involvement of three employees and a good 20 minutes or so to print my code, and that was after the guy had spent some more time apparently trying to figure out what to do to sell me one in the first place. But at least the price I had been asked had been rounded down, so that left me with some change and some time to waste, since I had already spent more time than intended and had therefore switched to another plan, so after a quick look through Carrefour I went back to Kaufland, getting myself a pastry and some potatoes that were on the evening discount. Had also seen that bread that I may get from there at half price, but the change I had left wasn’t enough for that… Then again, it wasn’t quite enough for what I was getting either, being just 0.01 RON short, but I was sure I was going to find a coin at the self-checkout… And didn’t, which is likely a first in itself, despite not just checking the machines that also accept cash but also actually walking back and forth through the area twice. And I also had a look at the regular checkouts I could see, finding no coins on the floor there either, so I eventually just went to a regular one and hoped the cashier would accept 1.10 RON instead of 1.11, which she did. Then I just took my time on the way back, finally getting here just before 8:10 PM.

Two Runs and Reasons for Concern… Later Confirmed…

I’ll again start the post by mentioning a day with no visits recorded, March 2, and then move on to last Wednesday, when I woke up when the alarm rang, at 2 PM, after my brain spent most of that morning making me aware of some science fiction story it had apparently been working on, since those dreams just continued if I was waking up and then getting back to sleep. I’m not falling for that again, considering how it turned out the first time, but just thought I’d mention it before saying that I then had the usual stuff, the yogurt being another one of those “creamy” ones with 10% fat, and counting the raisins in white chocolate also added in it as the sweet thing, put on the full running gear, with an undershirt underneath and some things in the pocket of my tights, plus the jacket for the walk, and left at 4:05 PM, when the reported temperature was 13-14°C, supposed to drop by a couple of degrees by the time I’ll finish.
The time was 48:46.97, with sector times of 4:12.15, 5:13.84, 6:07 (6:06.04), 4:36.13, 5:08.30, 5:59.35, 4:37 (4:36.24), 5:01.16, 5:59.66 and 1:54.10, making for lap times of 15:32.03, 15:43.78 and 15:37.06. I started with a little less preparation than I wanted, since as I was getting ready, after removing my mask, I spotted two police officers a few steps away and one of them looked my way, so while my clothing should have made it clear that I was about to start running and therefore could have my mask off, I didn’t want to give them a chance to say something and just started immediately, and probably faster than I should have, which actually made that otherwise pretty good sector one time not as good as I expected. And then the next sector made it quite clear that staying under 48:30 was an unlikely target, unlikely becoming impossible at the end of the lap. So until the end of sector two of lap two I even thought I’ll have to just aim to stay under 50 minutes, but that sector and the next were good enough to let me think first of 49:30 and then 49 minutes, sector two of lap three making that pretty certain and sector three only confirming it… As sad as it again is to struggle so hard for times that are a minute or more worse than regular ones were a year ago.
There were a fair number of people, and on top of weaving and going the long way around, on sector two of lap one’s long straight I had to briefly stop when a kid on a bicycle decided to start moving again and go towards me just after I had picked which way to go around him, and then had to slow when a roadblock formed right ahead of me a bit later. On the next sector a kid on roller skates went around behind another and ended up right in front of me on her way back, so I again had to briefly stop and avoid her, and on sector three of lap two a crowd gathered in front of a stall forced me to go off the path and around two benches, albeit partially cutting a turn. There was another spot, possibly on sector two of lap two, when I really had to weave from one side to the other and pick my way through what almost was a multiple roadblock, and two girls coming down right on the middle forced me to go the long way around as I was going up the stairs on the final sector, which tired me even more and I rather walked up the last steps… And then I felt a loose shoelace on the final straight, so while I obviously didn’t stop to deal with it, I tried to adjust my running to reduce the risk of tripping… And at the end I saw that both were loose, maybe because I hadn’t tightened them before starting. Otherwise, there was some wind as well, mainly on sector one, and my back kept bothering me for the first half of the run or so, the pain radiating to my upper abdomen and chest. It did get better after that, but it’s been rather messed up after the previous week’s run and carrying as much as I did the following day, and it’s clearly getting worse as time passes.

I had a look in that Carrefour again after the run, initially meaning to look at another glass baking tray, seeing that it was too deep, seeming more like a glass pot, and ending up getting more of that cat food for Rocky, and I guess now also Micky. But last week’s main shopping trip was Friday, when I got up a bit after 12:30 PM and left a bit before 2:30 PM. With the first target being Penny, for cabbage, after quickly checking the Mega Image on the way I went there… And just left again, not liking the cabbage they had, so the first purchases were from the Mega Image that’s sort of across the road from that Kaufland, deciding to just have a look and seeing a sale on some yogurt and quail eggs that were again discounted due to expiring soon. I was a bad customer, however, since I dropped one of the yogurts when I closed the door to the fridge and it broke, but since nobody seemed to have seen me I just got another. Did “fine” myself by counting the eggs as having been purchased from “my” money, which I don’t normally do when it comes to eggs, but that was for the waste caused, since that yogurt was going to get thrown away, obviously not for causing a tiny loss to a corporation, which I’d normally consider to be something positive, albeit not so much when done in such a manner.
What I only noticed when I got to Kaufland was that the yogurt had splashed on my pants in quite a few places, so I did my best to wash it off in the bathroom, then went in and looked for the bread that was on sale. Seeing none, I meant to ask, but the employee was busy, and while she chatted for a bit after someone else who clearly knew her got her attention to ask for gloves, when I tried to cut in to ask whether they’ll make more that day I was just ignored. So I wandered around for a while and then tried again, and when she said she didn’t know I left and had a quick look through that Carrefour as well, then went to the Kaufland from Obor, using a route I had prepared, with pictures saved on my phone, but hadn’t used until then.
Since I was mainly going there for bread, went to the bathroom to wash my hands first, then went straight to the bakery area and started picking the bread with my hands to put it in the bag, which made an employee tell me to use gloves. I was only touching those I was getting, which I pointed out to her, and also said I had just washed, but she asked how I’d react if I’d see her place the bread on the shelf without gloves while saying she had just washed, and why do they even bring gloves if they’re not used. Well, as the situation from the other location also proved, they hardly ever have gloves available, so I hadn’t even looked, and my hands at that point were way cleaner than some gloves they quite clearly don’t replace after each thing they do, and even more clearly cleaner than the shelf itself, but I wandered away with the two I had gotten until then, returning a bit later for the third, and then also getting a lettuce. There was quite a long wait at the self-checkout and I couldn’t exactly afford that lost time, so I did my best to hurry back, though I also happened to notice cheaper lettuce in one place as I passed through that farmers’ market.
Couldn’t get back by 6 PM, as planned, but I was here just a little bit later… And the evening seemed to prove that it was my day to get dairy products all over myself, since I made mamaliga again and when I opened a bottle of kefir left by dad upside down, to pour what he had left in it, it rather exploded all over me. At least it taught me how to deal with those, so it didn’t happen again the next time, when I did that with more of them, but that evening it took me a while to clean up. And I finally got in bed at 5:20 AM again.

Monday the alarm was set to ring at 2 PM, but I woke up around 1:30 PM or so and at first decided to not even check the time, waiting for it to ring and maybe catching another little nap if that won’t happen right away, but I rather needed to pee, so after a little while I did check the time, seeing 1:40 PM, and decided to get up. Then I had the usual stuff, the yogurt again being one of those “creamy” ones with 10% fat, for the first time in a long time with nothing else added except the cereals, while for the sweet thing I finally finished another pack of those expired nicer biscuits, with added honey. Also drank most of the tea, wore the full running gear, with an undershirt under the t-shirt, plus the jacket for the walk, tied around my waist as I ran, and left at 4 PM, when the reported temperature was about 12°C, supposed to drop by a couple of degrees by the time I’ll finish.
The time was 1:19:16, with sector times of 4:13, 5:15, 6:00, 4:33, 5:08, 6:00, 4:36, 5:13, 6:05, 4:43, 5:19, 6:10, 4:44, 5:20 and 5:57, making for lap times of 15:28, 15:41, 15:54, 16:12 and 16:01. Just aimed to stay under 1:20, being worried that I’ll yet again fail even that, but wondered whether I’ll at least manage a first lap on the pace needed for 1:18, so in 15:36, and when I just managed to even stay under 15:30 I tried to maintain that pace on average over the first two laps, which I rather surprised myself by also managing. The next goal was to stay under 16 minutes on the third lap, and after I managed that as well I briefly wondered whether I could aim for 1:19. That would have meant averaging less than 16 minutes on the next two laps as well, which seemed impossible, and sector one of lap four clearly proved that, so there was a moment on sector two of lap four when I was rather disheartened, but then I recovered and kept pushing to try to at least stay under 1:19:30, which I eventually managed by quite some margin, thanks to a final sector that ended up being the fastest sector three. Another runner that I saw ahead of me on the last straight might have motivated me to gain a second or two there at the end, but I’d have likely still had the fastest sector three even without him, or at least one that wasn’t slower than those on the first two laps.
In terms of problems, there were plenty of people again, but other than making me weave and go the long way around, they didn’t cause serious issues, only needing to just take a step on the grass once and maybe slow a little as I squeezed through a couple more times. Other than that, it was somewhat windy, and there were places where I was pushing against it. Physically, however, I felt just fine, my right knee and left hip only giving me some faint warnings at the start of lap five, and there were moments on lap four and early on lap five when I also felt a bit of pressure from some potential excess weight, but even all of that went away again as I kept pushing and ended up in a bit of a runner’s high on sectors two and three of lap five.

One reason for concern, on top of my back, was that I had felt a bit strange last Tuesday evening. The rest of it seemed caused by what I had eaten, but I also sneezed once, and then my nose was quite irritated again after the following day’s run, I sneezed quite a number of times and even had a bit of crap to spit out at night. All of that improved significantly the next day, but in the evening I started feeling a bit strange again, and dad had already started coughing a lot, so I was starting to put two and two together even though he completely dismissed the possibility and kept finding excuses. Admittedly, I was fine again after I ate last Thursday night, and when I took my temperature before that I saw 36.8°C, which is rather high for me but obviously not a fever, but Saturday night it was after eating when I started feeling strange, having a pretty serious headache and sort of feeling unwell in general. I hadn’t quite recovered by the first time I woke up, and while when I eventually got up I was just fine again, it was one more sign that something wasn’t right.
Now, anyone reading this can quite certainly figure out where this is going, but the situation is still developing, and in my case I’m yet to have any actual information, so I’m going to leave the rest of it for another post, also in order to manage to post this by midnight and leave myself all the weekend to decide what the second post will be… Or to try to just throw something here tomorrow in order to make sure I’ll have two posts this week and I can move that scheduled one that is always set to be published at 11:59 PM on Sunday unless I reschedule it first. That said, there is a quite real risk of having that show up, for a number of reasons…

New Finds – XXX

I actually managed to add all the bands included in this series of posts to the list, so I now know that, with the ones in this post, I have 130 out of 503. There are some questions about a few that I just happened to mention in passing, but it should be good enough for the moment, at least when it comes to the names, seeing as I should be adding some links, or some more links, for some of them, since after the first few I gave up on trying to also do that just now. There are certainly many with outdated links as well, but that’s not something I’ll ever be able to really keep track of, so I’m not even going to try to check what already exists.
Getting to this particular post, it won’t include those other Italian bands with new releases that I mentioned in the previous one, but three actual new finds, since you can say I couldn’t exactly avoid stumbling into even more while looking through the existing ones. There would actually be five interesting recent finds, but the other two can’t yet be included in such a post, one having just released their first song, so I can’t have two picks, while the second just released their first EP, but I just saw a link to a song that was automatically generated by YouTube and could only find one more like it, not any pages or accounts I could use, the name also making it hard to correctly identify in a quick search. For that reason, I didn’t even mean to add this second one to the list, but was eventually able to at least find out what country they’re from, so I did just add them with that minimal amount of information and no links and will leave them for a later post, if I’ll be able to find something I can actually use by then.

The first band I’m including here, Dreams in Fragments, isn’t really such a new find, since I’m quite sure I listened to them before but didn’t really care to make new additions to the list at the time and when I heard growls I immediately moved on. However, there are none in the song they just released, By the Sea Forever, so that will be my first pick. And out of the other two, older, ones that are posted officially, I’ll go with Unireverse, the rest of the song now making me excuse the brief growls. They seem to like to start songs with some electronic sounds I’m not keen on, but nevertheless have quite a few elements going for them, their main problem being the male vocals, and I’m not referring to the growls, which may in fact be easier to get over, so I’d say they’d improve a fair bit by getting rid of male vocals altogether, unless of course they can significantly improve the clean ones.

Moving on, Chaos Magic is a pretty commercial project, and what I’d call a “manufactured” band, but there are some nice enough pieces to be found, so let’s go with Falling Again and One Drop of Blood as the two picks. The sound of the latter just “screams” of Timo Tolkki, and his departure after the first album meant that the band changed significantly, but the quality of the songs also seems to me to vary significantly in pretty much every way even on the same album, so it remains to be seen whether they’ll find some balance and a clearer direction.

The third band, Ailafar, state their genre as being melodic rock, and I’m also seeing it described as AOR, but it’s not the first time I’m including such a band in one of these posts. The first pick, out of the recent songs, would be Life Is a Chess, but the number of older songs officially posted meant it took me a while to pick a second and if I’d try again I’d quite certainly pick something else. Since that first pick is listed as featuring another artist, I was wondering whether the second should be another one like it, since that actually is the case for many of their posted songs, or not, but in the end I settled on Journeyman by deciding to pick one of their oldest, and otherwise weaker, ones. As such, expect to find better stuff if you start listening, and despite featuring all those different artists, they’re clearly a solid, established, confident band.

New Finds – XXIX

This post is the one I mentioned, containing only bands from Italy with new releases within the past year, but I’ll start it by mentioning a couple of changes I intend to make to the list of bands. The first one, adding all bands included in this series of posts to the list, should be pretty easy, and should have been done as soon as I made the list public, but I guess I only realized its necessity when I found myself in that situation I also mentioned in the previous post in this series, stumbling again into a band I knew I had heard and found at least somewhat interesting before but not finding it on the list. The second, on the other hand, falls into the “don’t hold your breath” category, because I’m referring to going through the whole list and removing bands that split up, or at least are listed as such on Metal Archives, unless I’m really impressed by them and definitely mean to actually get around to including them in such a post soon in spite of this. Since, if I’m to do this at all, I’ll do it bit by bit, it means there will likely be more entries which should be removed by the time I’ll get to the end, but at least I’ll cut down the list to some extent, assuming I actually will get around to doing this.

To get to the actual bands, I’ll start with Moonlight Haze. I was apparently quite uncertain about adding them at all back when I did, but if that was the case then my opinion changed a fair bit now. And I also noticed that their vocalist is also in another band I already included in one of these posts, RavenWord, and used to be in yet another one, Temperance. But it’s possible, and in fact quite likely, that I added them before the release of their first album, so my uncertainty stemmed from having too little material to really form an opinion… Although their first release, The Butterfly Effect, is a nice enough song to be one of my picks now as well. The other, off the album released last summer, would be The Rabbit of the Moon. Although in both cases I just picked out of the few songs that are posted officially, and have done so for all bands included in this post, The Rabbit of the Moon has a really good sound and it’s hardly the exception, so they were pretty good even in the beginning and are improving further. I do, however, wonder about the future of a band whose core members are also part of a couple of other active ones, which aren’t even the same ones.

Moving on, Tothem is apparently a very old addition to the list, a band I likely first heard of soon after I started saving the names and then never checked again, until now. Interestingly, their first upload was apparently a cover of a Romanian song, but I’m just adding that here as a curiosity. The actual first pick will have to be Rise from the Flames, since it’s the only song from their most recent album, with their current vocalist, that I can be sure is uploaded officially in its album version. The older song, from the time when they had a different vocalist, is harder to pick, even when still limited to what’s officially posted, but let’s go with The Witch. I’m just going to clearly state that I have few complaints about their sound, or in fact may not have significant ones at all, so I can definitely recommend them. Under these circumstances, maybe I should have started with them, but the connection between Moonlight Haze’s vocalist and other bands I had already included in such posts made that choice seem somehow more appropriate.

Next would be Frozen Crown, who are supposed to release a new album in April. But they did just release a first song from it, Far Beyond, so that will have to be my first pick, the fact that it was just released these days also being a reason why I wanted to include them here. For the older pick, I’ll go with In the Dark, but it’s a case of looking for the one that bothered me the least out of what’s posted officially, since I’m not keen on the vocals in general, and they don’t seem to be improving, plus that there are songs with growls as well, and I don’t necessarily have a significantly better opinion about the other elements. I mean, for example those angry drums in Far Beyond would have normally been enough to turn me away. Still, there is a decent power metal sound there, and that and the recent release may add up to just enough of an excuse to include them here.

Since I decided to get back to what used to be the usual five bands in this post, next would be Constraint. I apparently rated them relatively highly at first, but the album they released last year leaves me quite cold, so if I’m to pick a song from it I guess I’ll go with The Big (B)End, yet that’s because I’d say it’s the one that bothers me the least. As for an older one, I’ll just take the first one posted, Enlightened By Darkness, which is also the only one old enough to be the one that made me add them in the first place. The composition and overall sound of the few songs from their first full album that are posted officially are decent enough, but it’s another case of the vocals being quite weak, so the band they were then seemed to have potential if they’d have found a better vocalist, or if she would have improved, but now they seem to have changed direction and I find myself saying that, unless they’ll at least go back to their earlier style, I’m likely only adding them here to cross another Italian band off the list.

As for the fifth band, I’m rather cheating with Kalidia, though it’d be more accurate to say that they are, their recent release being just a re-release of their first album. But I’ll still count it as a recent release, and an excuse to finally add them in one of these posts, because I’m quite sure I meant to before and for some reason gave up, possibly because I couldn’t spend more time on the post in question. That’s probably also one reason why I initially thought I had just forgotten to mark them as added when I was going through the Italian bands on the list, though another reason must be that their vocalist is also in another band I already included in one of these posts, Walk in Darkness… And, interestingly, she apparently also collaborated a little with Moonlight Haze on their first album. But, to move on to the picks, the first is The Lost Mariner, while from their other album I’ll go with the title song, Frozen Throne. They’re both great songs, albeit mainly thanks to the vocals in case of the latter, and overall the band’s sound is solid, confident and polished, so I definitely recommend them.

It’s been a while since I last included five bands in one of these posts, and three of them are also bands I can clearly recommend, so I’m rather pleased to have managed it now. And I actually have enough Italian bands that released something within the past year for another post, but don’t know whether I’ll try to add it soon or not, even if at least a couple of them would likely deserve to be in such a post more than Frozen Crown or Constraint. For now, the priority when it comes to this should be to take care of that first update to the list I mentioned at the start of this post.

2021 Political Compass and Political Coordinates Results

This will make me run out of slots for personal posts again and I really should be using the fact that I can spend more time on-line these days to at least add another “New Finds” post. But I did just retake both the Political Compass and Political Coordinates tests this evening, for the first time since 2014 in case of the former and after some two and a half years in case of the latter, so I wanted to post the results, and also make sure I have the week’s second post right away. After all, if I will manage to write another “New Finds” post before next night, I can just post it after midnight and make it next week’s first one, and open another slot for a personal one then.

To get to the results, The Political Compass says that I slid even further on both axes. The shift on the economic one is small, from -8.00 to -8.38, and also normal, my views clearly being far to the Left, my concern being that, seeing as I reject the classical, typical Left about as much as Capitalism or Neoliberalism, I had already reached the limits of what the test can support back in 2014 and the results might become less accurate as the questions become less relevant for me, so in a way it’s a bit of a relief to see that it can still give a pretty accurate result. On the social axis, on the other hand, I’m quite surprised to see myself sliding just over one full point further, from -5.54 to -6.56, though now that I think of it, I guess this may also be correct, the direction taken by the current Progressive movement making me stand firmer on the side of actual freedom as opposed to an attempt to mainly break away from Conservative norms and traditional values and replace them with different, and largely opposite, ones that would nevertheless be enforced in a similar manner, still not letting people live as they wish even if that doesn’t in fact cause unjustified harm… And also not letting them even express their wishes and views, for that matter.

Economic Left/Right: -8.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56

As for Political Coordinates, moving from 80.6% to 83.3% Left on the economic axis means that my results on that axis continue to match almost exactly on the two tests, but getting from 75% to 72.2% Liberal greatly decreases the difference between the two results on the social axis. However, that axis seems to refer to different things, going from Authoritarian to Libertarian on Political Compass and from Communitarian to Liberal on Political Coordinates, which is a very different thing. I still don’t really see how many of the questions would be relevant to this axis if this is indeed what it’s meant to indicate, and my result on it seems to prove that fact, so other than to place me firmly in the correct quadrant, I don’t see it as particularly relevant.
